Sing Me A Lullaby Mama
A Quiet Poem for This Week. This Poem comes from my Poetry Collection exploring belonging, tenderness, and the fragile parts of us.
Sing me a lullaby Mama, like you used to
before the war broke. I remember them all,
even though you thought I never listened.
Now they echo in my head, and I wish you
could sing for me once again.
Though the world is dark and hope fades away,
your lullabies give me strength. They remind me
there was once a world at peace - a world where
I lay beneath the stars, listening to your voice,
safe and free.
Now bombs explode, shadows roam.
I cannot shut my eyes; I dare not sleep.
So, I listen in silence, to your lullabies in my mind –
not to drift away, but to calm my fear,
to dream of a day when peace returns
and you will sing to me again, Mama.
